You are standing in a hollow surrounded by woodland. As you slowly turn around all you can see is nature at it’s finest. Tall elegant trees swaying in a gentle breeze, wild flowers standing proud amongst a backdrop of nettles, ferns and other wild plants. As you look up all you can see is blue sky with a few whisps of fluffy clouds forming various shapes as they drift slowly overhead. Now cup your ears, the birdsong is magnificent, a personal orchestra of cheeps and chirps all in tune with nature……….
Over to your right is your accommodation for the night, fully equipped tents all set up waiting for your arrival, inviting you in with open arms. To you left is a fire pit, all set up waiting to be lit later and ready to toast marshmallows as the sun starts to set………
In front of you are colourful mats, all laid out ready for you to lie down in these beautiful surroundings, switch off your mind to the outside world and immerse yourself in mindfulness yoga, pilates and nature……..
Last weekend we held the first ‘Back to Nature’ Wellness Weekend in rural North Norfolk in the most magical of woodland settings. We had teamed up with Claire Gurney who teaches Pilates at Treat in Norwich to develop an idea that had sparked between us when we first met at a networking event in Norwich back in January.
Claire had been thinking about taking her expertise out into nature whilst our glamping tents provided the perfect accommodation for a Back to Nature Wellness Retreat set up.
We wanted to find locations that would provide essential facilities to our guests but most importantly feel they were totally getting away from everyday life for a short while by immersing themselves in natural surroundings.
This weekends location was at Dreamy Hollows campsite situated close to Docking in rural North Norfolk. We viewed it back in March but turning up on Friday to start setting up, it quite literally took my breath away. A unique woodland area with tent pitches nestled amongst the trees all higgledy piggledy. It was perfect and just got better as we set about pitching the tents, the dining shelter and treatment tent.
We had such wonderful guests attend the weekend, who all immersed themselves very quickly in getting back to nature and embracing the yoga, pilates and mindfulness meditation. The weather couldn’t have been better, so meant the first day was a long beautiful day ending with a stunning sunset and toasting marshmallows round the fire pit!
We also provided all the catering and obviously treated our guests to the delights of the wonderful Norfolk produce we include in our walking holidays. There was a lot of ‘Mmmmm’s’ to be heard, all washed down by a glass or two of wine expertly chosen to compliment our evening platters from Tanya at TFW Fine Wines.
Even though the weekend was only for one night, by the time we all came to leave everyone felt relaxed and at one with nature. The feedback has been quite overwhelming:
“There was nothing not to like! The whole experience was amazing. Mark and Gin are excellent hosts, food top knotch, tents comfortable – every need met. Massage booked was a lovely experience at the end of the day and loved the outdoor shower experience too. Yoga, pilates, meditation, SO relaxing – must get back into it. Attention to detail exceptional. Will heartily recommend, T x”
“What an amazing experience! I wouldn’t change a thing. Will be leaving feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Very happy to recommend to everyone I know. Every single amenity and home comfort was catered for and Mark and Gin are AMAZING hosts. Brylie was also a lovely camp companion. I’ve been quite ill over the last few weeks but feel this weekend has sorted me out. Much love B x”
Working alongside Claire and Julie also from Treat in Norwich and Rachel from Calm in the City was an absolute privilege. We all seemed to compliment each other so well. Another Back to Nature Wellness Retreat has already been organised in South Norfolk for September but I’m sorry to break it to you, it is already fully booked! But, we will be releasing dates for 2018 Back to Nature Wellness Weekends soon…
I would highly recommend keeping up with our developments on Social Media or subscribing to our mailing list as we have some great partnerships forming with other amazing professionals. So I think it’s fair to say……..
