Life’s a beach…..

It’s official, Norfolk has some of the best beaches in the UK! 6 of our North Norfolk beaches have been awarded the prestigious blue flag status which means our beaches are amongst the cleanest and safest in the country. The Eastern Daily Press wrote that “East Runton and West Runton have joined Cromer, Mundesley, Sea Palling and Sheringham in being awarded prestigious Blue Flag status. The international quality mark recognises their high standards of cleanliness and safety, as well as the water quality.”   I love our Norfolk coastline, to the extent it was one of the major factors behind setting up MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. I’ve travelled to some wonderful far away places with the hope and expectations that we’ll find ourselves on those remote and deserted white sandy beaches that we’ve all seen and dreamt of, listening to the gentle lapping of the waves and the sun dappling through the palm trees whilst drinking […]

Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path Passport launch

“The Norfolk Trails team is very pleased to announce that they will be launching their Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path Passport this Friday, just in time for the May bank holiday weekend! The passport is available to purchase from a number of Tourist Information Centres including Norwich, Thetford, Cromer, Holt, Great Yarmouth, Burnham Deepdale and Sheringham, as well as from Waxham Barn and the Muckleburgh Collection. The passport is an extensive guidebook of the National Trail in Norfolk and one of the only publications to include the new 21 miles of coastal access between Sea Palling and Hopton-on-Sea. It splits the National Trail up into walk sections, and provides detailed maps and descriptions of each walk section as well as highlighting local cafes, pubs, accommodation and the circular walks that spur from the National Trail. Each walk has its own bespoke stamp, unique to each collection, so all you have to do is enjoy […]

I walk because……

May is National Walking Month National Walking Month is a campaign to promote the benefits of walking and to get everyone walking, no matter what your level of fitness is.  Walking is simple and free and one of the easiest ways to be more active, lose weight and become healthier. I think it’s fair to say, I love walking. I’m not what you would call an experienced hiker, just a lover of getting out there and exploring the big outdoors and all it has to offer. Over the last few years it’s become a big part of my life for so many reasons: I walk because I can – after experiencing deteriorating mobility issues, I feared my love of walking was going to be severely compromised, but following some major surgery to restructure my pelvis, I’ve gone from strength to strength and ‘bagged’ The Hadrian’s Wall National Trail in 2016 I walk because it helps […]

A touch of Norfolk ‘magic’

My small business adventure continues…….. Since my last blog, it’s fair to say a lot has happened. From radio interviews to setting up our tents for the first time for guests on the Norfolk Coast. Today though, I want to focus on something that has really stood out for me on my small business adventure……Our Norfolk Food Producers! This venture is all about enabling people to enjoy the breathtaking Norfolk Coastline and all it has to offer. Part of that offer is introducing our guests to the exquisite Norfolk culinary delights that are produced right on our doorstep, in a daily breakfast hamper. From the outset of meeting some of the Norfolk food producers at markets and fairs, what has shone out the most was their passion and absolute dedication for what they do. We have since visited each producer and are in absolute awe of the commitment, dedication and expertise of each and every one of […]

Deepdale hygge

Finding our ‘Hygge’

Just taking a moment after another busy week, to reflect on this time last weekend…. The weather was gorgeous, the North Norfolk Coast as stunning as ever and we displayed our glamping tents for the very first time to the public. The venue was the popular Deepdale Backpackers and Campsite, who were holding their very first Hygge Festival. It was a weekend celebrating great local music, food, drink and making new friends (and memories) plus promoting activities for all on the North Norfolk Coast. There was also the Dalegate Spring Market next door with shops and stalls full of Norfolk handmade produce from delicious chutneys, tea, charcuterie to origami and beautiful jewellery. Putting our tent up for the very first time was a pretty memorable moment for us. In a way, it’s like displaying a piece of art or writing. Whilst it’s in the making, you completely own it and it’s part of your journey developing […]

SBS Winners Badge

Goldfish to a Dragon

I’ve never really won anything before, except a goldfish at the fairground when I was a little girl! So when @marginsholidays was announced as a winner by Theo Pathitis at the end of February on Twitter, I was absolutely gobsmacked. I only started embracing Social Media at the end of 2016 when we launched our website and started the promotion and marketing of MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. I have to confess I didn’t even know what a # meant! But I got my head down and started to learn. It was at a networking event in Norwich that I met a lovely lady from Agent Shave. They had only launched their business a few weeks before as well. She was over the moon as Agent Shave had just become winners of the Theo Pathitis Small Business Sunday #SBS competition on Twitter and she thought this was something MarGins should do to gain followers and support […]

Heart to Heart

The last 10 days have been a bit of a whirlwind for so many reasons. I think it’s fair to say ‘my adventure’ continues and I’m embracing and learning from every moment of it. Since my last blog so much has happened, such as purchasing a van that will become my ‘Glamp-mobile’, we’ve got more bookings and lot’s of interest in our holidays (phew!), forming some great partnerships with Norfolk business’s all along the Norfolk Coast Path (some that have the potential to offer quite unique packages to our guests) and much more. But the last week has really been a chance to reflect on my MarGins adventure and the realisation of where we’ve managed to get to in such a short period of time. Last Monday (13 February) I was contacted by The British Heart Foundation (BHF) to see if there was anything MarGins could do to support a guy called Kieran Sandwell who […]
