My adventure….a year on (part 3):
It’s the time of year to reflect and I think its fair to say, 2017 has been quite an eventful one….for all the right reasons.
This morning I attended a networking event in Norwich. When asked the question “What do you do?” it suddenly dawned on me that it was at this same event last year that I answered this question for the first time since launching MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. I remembered that feeling of apprehension and slight awkwardness when answering, wondering what their reaction would be, especially as I hadn’t even attempted to put a tent up yet! I was very relieved to get such a positive and enthusiastic response and so pleased that this reaction has continued throughout our first year.
Now when I start to introduce myself at networking events I get very excited, relieved (and quite overwhelmed), when people say they have heard of us and have followed our story on social media. I even get people asking me “Are you the tent elf?”.
Starting a business is huge! It’s never going to be easy but if you believe in what you do and are prepared to work hard to achieve it, then eventually you start to see the benefits and others start to believe in what you do to.
Throughout the year we’ve met so many other small business owners who are equally as passionate about what they do, from the Norfolk food producers (we are so blessed in Norfolk for local produce!) to the pubs, hotels, deli’s and campsite owners. Each and everyone has been an absolute inspiration to talk to and work with.
I suppose the moral of my adventure has to be…….find the courage to follow your dreams and ambitions. Keep your belief, be prepared for hard work and ultimately…….enjoy your adventure!
Thank you so much for reading my blogs this year and supporting my dream, it really does mean a lot and is most appreciated.
Wishing you all a festive holiday of doing whatever makes you smile and we hope 2018 brings you health and happiness.
Cheers everyone from your friendly tent elves xx
