MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays

Story behind the pic 5

Our first ever setting up of our tents for some lovely (& very brave) guests who agreed to trial them for us. Easter 2017!! The campsite at Stiffkey were incredibly kind giving us they’re prime pitches to set up on with amazing views over the saltmarshes BUT it was a Bank Holiday so I think it’s fair to say the weather wasn’t kind!! Our poor guests didn’t get a chance to sit & admire the view as the wind & rain was coming straight off the Marshes!! 😱💨☔️🏕 Hey ho!! The tents, us & our guests were certainly tested that weekend. Amazingly, the tents stayed up (every peg was used!!) and we all somehow managed to enjoy the weekend, phew!

MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays

Story behind the pic 3

Our Website: A very important element to starting a business but also a very daunting one when you have no idea where to start. BUT how lucky am I to have a very talented Sister who builds websites and created a fabulous website for us, getting the look just right. We love the logos she creates for all our holidays and the bunting across the top of the homepage is our actual bunting we use in our tents (made by my also very talented, Mother). The hard part for me was the wording. There wasn’t and still isn’t, another business like ours, so it was important to explain exactly what we do without it being too wordy and most importantly, encourage people to want to book! My Sister taught me how to update wording and to post blogs but each year we sit down together and update it as the business develops. Once the website […]

Our holidays and Covid-19 – update

29th June 2020: Following the Government announcement that campsites can re-open from the 4th July Deepdale Backpackers and Camping have made the decision not to open their toilet and shower facilities (see statement here). So, we are not taking any further bookings until we know if any of our holidays will be able to go ahead there this year. However, we do have some very positive news!! We are setting up an exclusive pop-up glamping site on a stunning piece of land that overlooks the breathtaking saltmarshes from Wells-next-the-Sea to Blakeney on the North Norfolk Coast from August 1st. Click HERE to find out more and to book.   24th June 2020:  It’s great news that from the 4th July tourism can start to reopen. We continue to take provisional bookings for our fully equipped Glamping tent at the fabulous Deepdale Camping and have limited availability (click here to find out more). Also, we will […]

Rural Business Awards

Rural Business Awards UK Finals

In October 2019 we were the very proud (and shocked) winners of The Best Rural Tourism Business in the East at the Rural Business Awards. This meant we were automatically made a finalist in the UK Rural Business Awards…….Wowsers! little ol’ us! So, last Thursday (27th February) I managed to squeeze myself into a a posh (well posh for me) little black dress and off I went to the rather impressive The Monastery in Manchester. A lovely venue to arrive to with a red carpet (not just for me, LOL) and glasses of bubbles to get the evening started. I was very pleased to see the lovely owners of The Itteringham Community Shop also there, who had won 2 awards in their categories. A delicious 3 course meal was next. I sat on a table with 2 other businesses, Ballinger Equine and Ark Farm Ltd. It’s always such a pleasure talking to other businesses and […]

WINNERS!!! Best Rural Tourism Business in the East

Oh my giddy aunt!! We only went and won the award for The Best Rural Tourism Business in the East at the Rural Business Awards last Friday 1st November at Trinity Park in Ipswich. We’ve won two awards now this year and we really couldn’t be more proud, delighted, a tad giddy and I have to say shocked and overwhelmed to be honest. Setting up a business is never going to be easy, I’ve said all of this before but when you have a ‘seed of an idea’ and then pluck up the courage to give it a go, to then watch and feel it grow and develop, is immensely satisfying, rewarding…….and flipping hard work! The Rural Business Awards are now in their 5th year following another ‘seed of an idea’ made over a farmhouse kitchen table in rural Leicestershire, wanting to make a difference to the profile of rural businesses in the UK. When we […]

Muddy Stilettos Award Finalist

Muddy Stilettos Finalists

It’s been quite a year for us, first winning the Environment Award at The North Norfolk District Council Business Awards and then we were nominated for Best Boutique Stay in the Muddy Stilettos Norfolk Awards. I have to be honest, I was pretty shocked we were nominated in the first place but to make it into the final 5! Norfolk has some amazingly gorgeous places to stay and although our holidays are quite unique and exclusive I wouldn’t have thought our tents were classed as a boutique stay. BUT WOW! they were and we’re immensely proud to have got that far. A huge congratulations to all the Muddy Stilettos Award Winners and to The Norfolk Mead hotel who won the Best Boutique Stay category (totally get that!).
