In October 2019 we were the very proud (and shocked) winners of The Best Rural Tourism Business in the East at the Rural Business Awards. This meant we were automatically made a finalist in the UK Rural Business Awards…….Wowsers! little ol’ us!
So, last Thursday (27th February) I managed to squeeze myself into a a posh (well posh for me) little black dress and off I went to the rather impressive The Monastery in Manchester. A lovely venue to arrive to with a red carpet (not just for me, LOL) and glasses of bubbles to get the evening started.
I was very pleased to see the lovely owners of The Itteringham Community Shop also there, who had won 2 awards in their categories.
A delicious 3 course meal was next. I sat on a table with 2 other businesses, Ballinger Equine and Ark Farm Ltd. It’s always such a pleasure talking to other businesses and hearing all about their ‘story’. The passion and dedication shines through every time and gives me such inspiration and motivation to keep going and developing.
Then….. the presentations began and the UK winners announced. Alas, we didn’t win our category but gosh, there were some amazing tourism businesses in our category.
I did get a photo with Jules Hudson from Countryfile and Escape to the Country.
Making the UK finals was a real honour and I do have to pinch myself, that in just 3 years we have won 2 awards ( and been runners up and short listed for other awards). Obviously winning would be have been amazing but it’s moments like these, sitting amongst some of the most elite rural businesses in the UK, that makes you reflect on what you have achieved and allowing oneself to feel rather proud.
Now we’re looking forward to our 4th season that’s looming up very quickly. Bookings are coming in fast so if you fancy an adventure on our Award Winning Holidays (still feels surreal saying that but pretty awesome!) then have a look at our Walking and Glamping options or we love to tailor a holiday just for you, so get in touch here.
Dreams can come true with some self belief and a lot of hard work…….go for it!
