We made the finals…

I have to pinch myself to think that this time last year we were in the first couple of months of launching MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays, full of anticipation and fear but mostly enthusiasm, commitment and belief.

It’s really quite scary making that decision to ‘start a business’. All those unanswered questions such as “how will we survive financially?” “will anyone want to book one of our holidays?” “will they like what we do?” “where do we start?” “how do I market this business?” and the biggy “are we doing the right thing?”.

The launch of the Break Charity Go Go Hare 2018

Last night we attended the Norfolk Norfolk District Council (NNDC) Business Awards Ceremony as a finalist in the New Business category. It was the first time NNDC had put on these awards so we really didn’t know what to expect when we arrived. It was held at the lovely Greshams School in the attractive town of Holt and were instantly made welcome with canapés and a glass of bubbles.

The big hall was set out beautifully. We all sat down on tables with other finalists in our categories and enjoyed a fabulous meal and wine before the big announcements were made! It was very apparent these awards are the just the start of something quite special. The room was full of businesses both large and small all very passionate about what they do.

One proud tent elf!

There was lot’s of cheers and excitement when each winner was announced and although we didn’t win our category it was a great opportunity to reflect just how far we have come in our first year of business. To be sat amongst some of the most prestigious businesses in North Norfolk and to actually have been considered for an award was a very proud moment for us tent elves.

We really couldn’t have got to where we are now without the support of so many Norfolk businesses. The campsites we pitch our tents on, the amazing food and drink producers we are so lucky to have in our county and provide our guests with delicious Norfolk produce, the support from NNDC, Genix and Nwes for business advice, support and networking opportunities, family and friends who couldn’t have been more supportive, the practitioners we are now working with to provide Speciality Holidays, Visit North Norfolk and Enjoy North Norfolk for their ongoing support and promotion and so many more.

I’m still not sure I can answer all the questions above but there is one I can answer with enthusiasm and pride:

“Are we doing the right thing?”……….a resounding YES!
