I walk because……

May is National Walking Month National Walking Month is a campaign to promote the benefits of walking and to get everyone walking, no matter what your level of fitness is.  Walking is simple and free and one of the easiest ways to be more active, lose weight and become healthier. I think it’s fair to say, I love walking. I’m not what you would call an experienced hiker, just a lover of getting out there and exploring the big outdoors and all it has to offer. Over the last few years it’s become a big part of my life for so many reasons: I walk because I can – after experiencing deteriorating mobility issues, I feared my love of walking was going to be severely compromised, but following some major surgery to restructure my pelvis, I’ve gone from strength to strength and ‘bagged’ The Hadrian’s Wall National Trail in 2016 I walk because it helps […]

A touch of Norfolk ‘magic’

My small business adventure continues…….. Since my last blog, it’s fair to say a lot has happened. From radio interviews to setting up our tents for the first time for guests on the Norfolk Coast. Today though, I want to focus on something that has really stood out for me on my small business adventure……Our Norfolk Food Producers! This venture is all about enabling people to enjoy the breathtaking Norfolk Coastline and all it has to offer. Part of that offer is introducing our guests to the exquisite Norfolk culinary delights that are produced right on our doorstep, in a daily breakfast hamper. From the outset of meeting some of the Norfolk food producers at markets and fairs, what has shone out the most was their passion and absolute dedication for what they do. We have since visited each producer and are in absolute awe of the commitment, dedication and expertise of each and every one of […]

Julia Bradbury and The Outdoor Guide

We’re very pleased to announce we are now proud partners with Julia Bradbury and The Outdoor Guide. It’s a privilege to list MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays on their website, not to mention having a quote from Julia to! “I am delighted to have MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays feature on The Outdoor Guide. The Norfolk Coastline is spectacular and the perfect place for a family walking holiday.”      A little about The Outdoor Guide and why we really wanted to become a partner below: Welcome to The Outdoor Guide (TOG). This is a place for people who love the outdoors. You don’t have to be an enthusiast. Maybe you’re just someone who enjoys hiking, or taking the family camping for the odd weekend. Or perhaps you like ambling around quaint villages, enjoy good country pubs or cycling through picturesque scenery. TOG is a curated site that aims to pull together all sorts of information […]

Heart to Heart

The last 10 days have been a bit of a whirlwind for so many reasons. I think it’s fair to say ‘my adventure’ continues and I’m embracing and learning from every moment of it. Since my last blog so much has happened, such as purchasing a van that will become my ‘Glamp-mobile’, we’ve got more bookings and lot’s of interest in our holidays (phew!), forming some great partnerships with Norfolk business’s all along the Norfolk Coast Path (some that have the potential to offer quite unique packages to our guests) and much more. But the last week has really been a chance to reflect on my MarGins adventure and the realisation of where we’ve managed to get to in such a short period of time. Last Monday (13 February) I was contacted by The British Heart Foundation (BHF) to see if there was anything MarGins could do to support a guy called Kieran Sandwell who […]

New Year resolutions…..

This week I’ve been reflecting on that question “What’s your New Year’s resolution?” It’s quite a personal question really and we may not want to share our resolutions with just anyone. I never liked the question because we have a tendency to set our expectations for change quite high, such as losing weight, joining the gym etc. and then if we don’t ‘succeed’ we see it as a failure leading to low self-esteem and confidence in our ability’s. I was at a New Year’s party in 2014 having this exact conversation with a good friend and neighbour, which admittedly was fuelled by a few drinks. It led onto a discussion on things we’d both like to achieve rather than what we think we should be doing. That was when we shook hands on a resolution that for me, was going to lead onto the beginnings of setting up MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. We both […]

Festive wishes

I think that launching a new business so close to Christmas has actually helped us to cope with the annual Festive chaos. Seem’s strange I know but embracing the world of Social Media especially Twitter has meant that we keep up to date with what Festive events are happening throughout our lovely county of Norfolk. I’ve always been a believer in supporting our local businesses and small independently run shops. I love finding them special places selling handmade and locally sourced treasures. We are so lucky in Norfolk, you don’t have to go far to find them. Whilst out distributing our leaflets we’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support we’ve received from the Norfolk shops, cafe’s, Hotels, pubs and Tourist Information centres on the North Norfolk coast. This has also given us the opportunity to Christmas shop as we distribute the leaflets in our quaint Norfolk towns. You really can’t beat finding the perfect gift […]

Nice to meet you…

MarGins Walking and Glamping holidays has emerged from a love of being in the big outdoors and exploring what it has to offer. I’m Gin, my husband is Mark and our adored pooch is Brylie. We’ve always enjoyed our holidays that give us a true appreciation of experiencing where we are by being able to immerse ourselves in the local area without any restrictions. We all spend most of our lives watching the time so we can be somewhere ‘important’ at a certain time to do a certain thing, so we’re big believers that you should break rules when you go on holiday and not have to ‘clock watch’! I (Gin) have always had a passion for walking. I appreciate the freedom it gives you and the opportunities to explore that you just don’t have when you’re confined to a vehicle. I love nothing more than putting my boots on and stepping out into the big […]
