We are truly blessed this year to have a small but perfect team of enthusiastic and motivated tent elves.
I’ve run a business before and know how attracting the right people to join your team is such an important element of your businesses success (or not!).
MarGins holidays are based purely on logistics, providing essential equipment for our guests comfort and safety and thinking on your feet on a regular basis. We don’t work set hours and being a very small business, we really can’t afford to offer anyone full time employment.
We are delighted that David, a family friend, would like to support us again this year. His help last year was simply awesome and there were day’s I quite simply could not have coped without him……a storm on Happisburgh cliffs springs to mind!!
This year we’re delighted to welcome on board Kelly who has an absolute zest for the outdoors, to the point where she has started a fantastic initiative of Grow Her Wild, encouraging other Mums with young children to embrace the outdoor playground together. Plus she is training to become a Bear Grylls instructor….pretty impressive hey? Helping us on an adhoc basis fit’s in with Kelly perfectly as it gives her time to work on and develop her exciting new business as well.
Kelly’s first day as a tent elf was quite an induction to the role. We had all 4 of our tents booked for the May Bank Holiday weekend at the fabulous Deepdale Backpackers and Camping. After a few days of intensive list ticking and packing, Kelly joined us on the road to Deepdale. We started off in gorgeous sunshine, even stopping to enjoy our lunch together…..but the weather had other ideas as it was our first big weekend of the season with a new recruit and it decided to throw in a few showers, to test us all, not just Kelly!
It’s true to say, that Team Work really does make the Dream Work! The 3 of us managed to set up all 4 tents so they were completely dry on the inside and basically, we all just got on with it.
The weather continued to be rather temperamental throughout the weekend and our tents, I’m very pleased to say, stood up to 50mph winds, hail and rain showers plus a few lovely moments of sunshine (Phew!).
I think it’s safe to say, we’re going to have a few adventures and giggles together this season!
