I think that launching a new business so close to Christmas has actually helped us to cope with the annual Festive chaos. Seem’s strange I know but embracing the world of Social Media especially Twitter has meant that we keep up to date with what Festive events are happening throughout our lovely county of Norfolk.
I’ve always been a believer in supporting our local businesses and small independently run shops. I love finding them special places selling handmade and locally sourced treasures. We are so lucky in Norfolk, you don’t have to go far to find them.
Whilst out distributing our leaflets we’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support we’ve received from the Norfolk shops, cafe’s, Hotels, pubs and Tourist Information centres on the North Norfolk coast. This has also given us the opportunity to Christmas shop as we distribute the leaflets in our quaint Norfolk towns. You really can’t beat finding the perfect gift in a locally owned shop and the service is so friendly and welcoming.
Last Sunday four friends joined us and Brylie on the the #walkinghomeforchristmas Mince Pie walk from Wells-next-the-Sea to Blakeney along the Norfolk Coast Path for Walking With The Wounded. There was 34 of us plus quite a few happy dogs and the weather turned out to be stunning. It’s still early days but fingers crossed, we will have some exciting news in the New Year to share with you……..
Anyway, moving on quickly! The last few days have been spent doing what we love most, walking and exploring the Norfolk Coast with our beloved pooch Brylie. Today is the Winter Solstice which means the ‘sun stands still’ amongst a darkening world in mid-winter. I read a beautiful piece today which summed up the last few days:
“The essence of solstice involves stopping, even if only for a moment. Make time to reflect on what makes you happy. Step outside for a walk with a friend. Stop a moment. Look up at the sky” @walkingwomen
Maybe we should all ‘stop’ more often, just for a moment instead of rushing around doing what we think we should be doing this time of year………
So with that in mind, I will ‘stop’ writing and first of all say a huge thank you for supporting us and secondly we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
Gin, Mark and Smiley Miss Brylie
