A touch of Norfolk ‘magic’

My small business adventure continues…….. Since my last blog, it’s fair to say a lot has happened. From radio interviews to setting up our tents for the first time for guests on the Norfolk Coast. Today though, I want to focus on something that has really stood out for me on my small business adventure……Our Norfolk Food Producers! This venture is all about enabling people to enjoy the breathtaking Norfolk Coastline and all it has to offer. Part of that offer is introducing our guests to the exquisite Norfolk culinary delights that are produced right on our doorstep, in a daily breakfast hamper. From the outset of meeting some of the Norfolk food producers at markets and fairs, what has shone out the most was their passion and absolute dedication for what they do. We have since visited each producer and are in absolute awe of the commitment, dedication and expertise of each and every one of […]

Finding our ‘Hygge’

Just taking a moment after another busy week, to reflect on this time last weekend…. The weather was gorgeous, the North Norfolk Coast as stunning as ever and we displayed our glamping tents for the very first time to the public. The venue was the popular Deepdale Backpackers and Campsite, who were holding their very first Hygge Festival. It was a weekend celebrating great local music, food, drink and making new friends (and memories) plus promoting activities for all on the North Norfolk Coast. There was also the Dalegate Spring Market next door with shops and stalls full of Norfolk handmade produce from delicious chutneys, tea, charcuterie to origami and beautiful jewellery. Putting our tent up for the very first time was a pretty memorable moment for us. In a way, it’s like displaying a piece of art or writing. Whilst it’s in the making, you completely own it and it’s part of your journey developing […]

New Year resolutions…..

This week I’ve been reflecting on that question “What’s your New Year’s resolution?” It’s quite a personal question really and we may not want to share our resolutions with just anyone. I never liked the question because we have a tendency to set our expectations for change quite high, such as losing weight, joining the gym etc. and then if we don’t ‘succeed’ we see it as a failure leading to low self-esteem and confidence in our ability’s. I was at a New Year’s party in 2014 having this exact conversation with a good friend and neighbour, which admittedly was fuelled by a few drinks. It led onto a discussion on things we’d both like to achieve rather than what we think we should be doing. That was when we shook hands on a resolution that for me, was going to lead onto the beginnings of setting up MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. We both […]

Festive wishes

I think that launching a new business so close to Christmas has actually helped us to cope with the annual Festive chaos. Seem’s strange I know but embracing the world of Social Media especially Twitter has meant that we keep up to date with what Festive events are happening throughout our lovely county of Norfolk. I’ve always been a believer in supporting our local businesses and small independently run shops. I love finding them special places selling handmade and locally sourced treasures. We are so lucky in Norfolk, you don’t have to go far to find them. Whilst out distributing our leaflets we’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support we’ve received from the Norfolk shops, cafe’s, Hotels, pubs and Tourist Information centres on the North Norfolk coast. This has also given us the opportunity to Christmas shop as we distribute the leaflets in our quaint Norfolk towns. You really can’t beat finding the perfect gift […]

A very productive week

The last week has been a whirlwind of productiveness. Last week we received our MarGins leaflets that Mark designed. It was quite nerve racking opening the box, really hoping they were going to look OK but I’m pleased to say we are thrilled with them, so my next task is distributing them around the Norfolk Coast and anywhere that walkers, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts visit. We had a busy and rather festive weekend. On Saturday, Cromer had their Christmas light switch on. So I took my Mum for a wander around a cold but very Christmassy Cromer, taking in the Christmas tree festival in the church, meandering through the street stalls and having a very warming hot chocolate at the wonderful Rocket Cafe looking out over a festive Cromer Pier before the big lights switch on. It’s lovely to see so many people supporting our local towns as there is a lot of behind the […]

First week reflection

Well, today marks our one week anniversary and what a week it’s been. Really loving all the support from our Twitter and Facebook followers and supporters, thank you for all the likes, share’s and retweets we really appreciate it. It’s meant we’ve let so many people know we’re up and running and ready for business already! Brylie and I have taken full advantage of the glorious weather and have completed our re-walk of the whole of the Norfolk Coast Path. I love walking our stunning coast any time of the year, it’s so diverse with constant breathtaking views around every corner. This time we’ve been taking lot’s of notes along the way so we can make sure our MarGins guests have the most up to date information on places to eat, drink, toilet stop, picnic stop places of interest along the way. The next step is revisiting and finding some of the amazing local shops, cafe’s […]

MarGins walking and glamping holidays north norfolk coast path

Nice to meet you…

MarGins Walking and Glamping holidays has emerged from a love of being in the big outdoors and exploring what it has to offer. I’m Gin, my husband is Mark and our adored pooch is Brylie. We’ve always enjoyed our holidays that give us a true appreciation of experiencing where we are by being able to immerse ourselves in the local area without any restrictions. We all spend most of our lives watching the time so we can be somewhere ‘important’ at a certain time to do a certain thing, so we’re big believers that you should break rules when you go on holiday and not have to ‘clock watch’! I (Gin) have always had a passion for walking. I appreciate the freedom it gives you and the opportunities to explore that you just don’t have when you’re confined to a vehicle. I love nothing more than putting my boots on and stepping out into the big […]
