My adventure….a year on (2)

Communication! So many ways to do this these days but for me, I still think it’s good to talk! Communication is something that comes up time and time again as one of the most important elements in business, it can very quickly become overlooked due to many reasons, but usually it’s down to excessive workload and lack of time keeping and organisation. From the beginning of ‘my adventure’ I was adamant that communication would be my top priority with all our stakeholders, no matter how busy or tired I got. I’m not a business or management specialist but I know that, for me, how I’m greeted and spoken to makes a big difference on the outcome of whether I would like to engage with that person and pursue a conversation and ultimately form a partnership with them. Starting a new business is never going to be easy but looking back over the last year, communication […]

My adventure….a year on (1)

As business starts to quieten down and we are approaching the end of our season, I can finally start to reflect on my first year in business. It was September last year that I made that big decision to ‘give my idea a go’. I’m sure business guru’s will cringe at my terminology but that’s exactly how I felt at the time. It’s not an easy decision to make, there is so much at stake but I knew I had to give it a good go…..it just felt right. Plus there’s that Ol’ cliche “if I don’t do it now, I never will…”. It’s hard to describe the feelings, thoughts and emotions you go through making the decision to start a new business, especially when it’s such a new concept. Just because I liked the idea doesn’t mean that others will but I really believed in it and I think that’s the drive you need […]

New Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path Adventure Atlas

We are very privileged to be some of the first people to get our hands on the new Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path Adventure Atlas published by A-Z Maps the official partner of National Trails. We launched MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays shortly after the newest section of the Norfolk Coast Path was opened from Sea Palling to Hopton-on-Sea on the Suffolk border in 2016. Two of our walking packages (The Avocet and The Lapwing) includes this new section but it quickly became apparent there was no official map for this section, which would cause a problem for our guests wanting to walk this new section. A-Z maps have been so supportive of our new venture and completely understood our dilemma. So we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Kieran from A-Z maps who has managed to get these fantastic atlases published in time for our guests walking the […]

My adventure…..

We’re now into the middle of January, the first few weeks have flown by and MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays is into its second month of business.               Last week we welcomed our very first MarGins guests to the wonderful Norfolk Coast. We arranged a bespoke package for them to walk from Hunstanton to Cley-next-the-Sea over 3 days with their dog. Our guests were sisters wanting to share some quality time together as they both live opposite sides of the world and only had a short time together in the UK, so there were high expectations of the service from MarGins and the Norfolk Coastline….in January! No pressure! But, it couldn’t have gone any better. They fell in love with the Norfolk Coast! My heart skipped a beat when one of the sisters said “I think I’ve found my spiritual home, this has been the highlight of my trip […]
